Inetta H. Schneider, 90, former resident

   Inetta Hellen Schneider, formerly of Orofino, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2009 in Spokane, WA, surrounded by loved ones in the comfort of her home. She was born Jan. 1, 1919 in Leland.

   Inetta spent 43 years up until 1996 living at her ranch, farming and raising cattle. She enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, running in the high country, painting and gardening.

   She crocheted and embroidered fancy work for Cameron, Cavendish, Southwick, Ticker, and the Cream Ridge Bazaar. She sewed and made dresses for competition. She belonged to the Ticker Quilting Club and made blankets for people overseas.

   She was loved by all she met, touched the lives of many, and will be dearly missed.

   Inetta is survived by six children: Moriene Cargile of Spokane, whom Inetta had been living with for the past 19 years, Oretta and Lanny Meyers of Kettle Falls, WA, Loretta Yarrish of Spokane, Harlon and Diane Schneider of Longview, WA, Dollon and Vicki Schneider of Orofino, and Dorine and Allen Stamper of Sweet Home, OR; 15 grandchildren, 43 great grandchildren and 11 great-great grandchildren.

   Inetta was preceded in death by her husband Daymon Fredrick Schneider, whom she married Feb. 10, 1938.

   Graveside services were held Oct. 17 at Mountain View Funeral Home, 3521 7th Street, Lewiston. Pal Bearers were Dale Cargile, John Cargile, Charlie Stamper, Chad Burke, Tyler Burke, Dale Cusick, Geoff Schneider and Shaquille Burke. Honoraries are Gardon Jassell, Brian Meyers, Denis Meyers, and Bill Williams.

Don F. Johnston, 96, Lenore

   Don F. Johnston, of Lenore, passed away Thursday, Oct. 15, 2009. He was 96.

   He was born to Elsie and Alfred Johnston Aug. 26, 1913, in Agatha. Don attended school under the teachings of Mrs. Dean Wright.

   Don married Lois Fry at Moscow Nov. 1, 1935. They remained together until her death in February 1997.

   He lived his whole life in the Agatha/Lenore area farming and raising cattle. Don enjoyed visiting family and friends from the front porch of his home.

   Don is survived by his son, Kenneth Johnston, Orofino; granddaughter, Rhonda Ellis and husband Michael, Lewiston; and great-grandchildren, Devion Ellis and Ray Anne Ellis, both of Lewiston.

   Preceding him in death were his wife Lois, daughter Rhoda Hill and sister, Gladys Koppel.

   Malcom's Brower-Wann Funeral Home in Lewiston is handling cremation. There will be no formal services.

   Donations in Don's name may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

   The family would like to thank the staff and facilities of Life Care Center in Lewiston.

Frank Ray Hudson, 79, Kamiah

   Frank Ray Hudson died of cancer Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2009, at the Lewiston Rehabilitation and Care Center. He was 79.

   Frank was born May 18, 1933 at Grangemont to Harry E. Hudson and Beatrice Luella Wisner. He attended elementary school in Grangemont and graduated from Orofino High School in 1953.

   Frank served in the U.S. Army from August 1954 to July 1956, and was stationed in Germany. He reached the rank of specialist 3rd class.

   He worked as a logger at Orofino from 1956 until 1993, when he retired after becoming ill with cancer. He moved to Kamiah in 1997, where he remained until his death. He was a member of the Orofino post of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He never married.

   Frank is survived by four brothers, Sam and Dorothy Hudson of Peck, Andy Hudson of Kamiah, Edward Hudson of Orofino and Joe and Colleen Hudson of Orofino; and two sisters, Ella Bea and Jim Stout of Mountain City, TN and Laura and George Chatham of Fort Wayne, IN.

   He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Beatrice Hudson; and brothers Lewis Hudson, Charles Hudson, Ralph Lee Hudson and Thomas Hudson.

   A graveside service with military honors was held Oct. 20 at the Grandview/German Lutheran Cemetery on Kidder Ridge Road above Kamiah. The Rev. George Chatham, Frank’s brother-in-law, officiated.

   Trenary Funeral Home of Kooskia is handling arrangements. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Ardella Wolverton, 92, Spokane, WA

   Ardella Wolverton of Spokane, WA died Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2009. She was 92.

   Ardella grew up Idaho, where her father was a cook in the logging camps. She loved the forests and learned to fish and hunt grouse as a youngster. 

   After graduating from high school in Orofino, she attended business college in Portland, OR, then set off on her own for Alaska. She lived on Kodiak Island until it was evacuated at the beginning of World War II.

   Orofino was home for Ardella and Jess and their children until they moved to Spokane in 1954. We will remember her devotion to family, her strength and determination, and her lemon pies.

   Ardella is survived by her son John and wife Linda Wolverton, Carol and Dick Bashaw, Elsie Wolverton, Arlene Orr and their families; grandchildren Darla Neumiller, Darlene Monterroso, Mark Wolverton, Mike Wolverton, and John Atkinson and their families.

   She was preceded in death by her sister Gertrude, daughter Judy, and recently by her husband of 63 years, Jess Wolverton.

Laura P. Gecich, 80, Lewiston

   Laura P. (Mullikin) Gecich, 80, of Lewiston passed away Thursday, Oct. 1, 2009. A memorial celebrating her life will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, at Mountain View Funeral Home located at 3621 7th Street, Lewiston, with a reception to follow.

   Born Sept. 10, 1929 in Orofino, she was the oldest daughter of Bryan and Alma (Beck) Mullikin. Laura was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She loved collecting carousel horses and coins, playing cards and crafting, but most of all she loved her family.

   Laura married Robert Gecich in 1953 and helped him run Bob’s Electric in Lewiston and in Lake Havasu City, AZ, where they moved with their family in 1970. Bob and Laura spent the last 20 plus years traveling between Las Vegas, NV, Lake Havasu City, AZ, Boise, and Lewiston, and came to call Lewiston home again about five years ago.

   She is survived by her daughters, Debbie Esmay and Connie Gecich of Phoenix, AZ; grandchildren, Cassie (James) Anderson and Alicia Esmay of Las Vegas, NV and Chancey (fiancé Ginnie) of Lake Havasu City, AZ; great grandchildren Tyler Anderson, Aidan Anderson, Andy Anderson, Jake Esmay and a great-grandson due to be born in March of 2010; uncle, Roy Beck of Clarkston, WA; aunts, Beattie Grim and Vi Devlin of Lewiston; siblings, Dave (Sheila) Mullikin of Clarkston, Gene (Donna) Mullikin and Joanne (Jim) Montambo of Orofino, sister-in-law; Katharine (Marvin) Taylor of Boise, and numerous cousins, nephews and nieces.

   Laura is preceded in death by her parents and her son Don. Rest in peace Mom, we love you and will miss you always.

Dwight Haley memorial service

   A memorial service for Dwight W. Haley will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 25, at the Seventh-day Adventist Church, 1212 19th St. in Lewiston.

   Haley, 68, of Lewiston, died Friday, Sept. 11, 2009, in Spokane, WA.

Rita Carter, 80, Boise

   Rita Carter of Kooskia died Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2009 at her nephew’s home in Boise. She was 80.

   Arrangements are under the direction of Cremation Society of Idaho.

Elisabeth Hagn, 90, Lenore

   Elisabeth Hagn of Lenore died Thursday, Oct. 15, 2009 at Clearwater Valley Hospital in Orofino. She was 90.

   No services will be held. Pine Hills Funeral Chapel & Crematory is in care of arrangements.

Lillian Pethtel, 97, Cottonwood

   Lillian Pethtel, 97, of Kamiah, passed away Saturday, Oct. 17, 2009 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Cottonwood.

   Arrangements are pending at Trenary Funeral Home of Kooskia.
