Pierce resident convicted of arson, conspiracy, and insurance fraud

Theresa Norton (Brunk) was found guilty of first degree arson, conspiracy, and insurance fraud, after a week-long trial beginning Sept. 28 and ending Oct. 2, according to Clearwater County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO).

Norton was tried for the offenses after being arrested for deliberately setting her Pierce home on fire April 7, according to CCSO. The fire caused approximately $40,000 in damage and losses.

Norton purchased the house in January and never lived there full time, according to CSSO.

Information from Jason Stacy, the co-conspirator in the case, was used against Norton, who is in jail pending sentencing. Stacy will be sentenced at a later date.
