   After 12 long years the Maniac football team put an end to Grangeville’s domination by not only defeating them but blanking them 20-0 at Grangeville Friday night.

   4-H members receiving awards at the Clearwater County 4-H Awards night were Madison Brewer, Lisa Huffman, Kayla Knapik, Audra Henderson, Lahni Rintelen, Amy Huffman, Austin Hengen, Silas Hull, Ben Palmer, Alex Kuykendall, Amy Houdeshell, Lindsay Easom, Alisa Griffth, Nathan Jones, Cynthia Kirkpatrick, Chelsey Luna, Emily Aultz, Jonathan Miles, Christiania Miles, Rachel Jones, Michaela Powell and Ayla Hutchins.

   Timberline Associated Student Body Officers for the year are Jenna Sutton, Stacy Spence and Kaylin Daniels.

   Dr. Maurice Masar will receive the 2004 Idaho Trustee of the Year award during the Idaho Hospital Associations Annual Convention in Sun Valley.

   Timberline High School Homecoming royalty are Danny Clark, sophomore prince, Dennis Childers, freshman prince, Rozanne Wolfe, freshman princess, Lori Morris, homecoming queen, Craig Bowner, homecoming king, Faris Brown, senior prince, and Kaylen Wendt, senior princess.

   “Big Toy” playground equipment was dedicated last week in Orofino’s City Park. The project was initiated by the Methodist mothers and eventually involved the entire community.

   Alex Irby, 42, assistant fire warden and long time employee of Clearwater Potlatch Protective Association, has accepted a position as resource manager for Konkolville Lumber.

   A recent addition to the Clearwater Tribune staff is Saundra White. Saundra will be working as a reporter and photographer, as well as doing dark room work.

   Jeananne Farbo was winner of the Mary Hall Niccolls scholarship at the University of Idaho.

   A 55 day drought ended October 10th bringing to close one of the longest fire seasons on record says Bob Adams, Clearwater Forest. A total of 194 fires were recorded before the 60-inch rain.       

   Lack of federal funds has caused deferment of the Three Meadows Camp Group on Dworshak Lake.

   For the first time in 20 years annual Clearwater Forest Sales dropped below 100 million board feet.

   Peck voters gave a 63 to 3 margin approval of a $120,000 bond issue to build a new city water system.

40 Years Ago

   Mike Ripley, manager of KLER, reports night broadcasting was authorized beginning October 1.

   Ascension Lutheran Church, who was founded in 1957, plans a mortgage burning ceremony in October.

   County building permits including areas adjacent to Dworshak Reservoir have totaled $1,580,000 during the past five years. Lakeview Homes is a new approved subdivision.

45 Years Ago

   Bungalow Ranger District is now completing replanting of burned areas in the Cook Mountain area. Since 1919 the area has been unroaded and provided a prime elk hunting area.

55 Years Ago

   City Council approval was obtained for an agreement with the State of Idaho to share in the cost of a 300,000 reservoir to be built on State Hospital North land at the same height as the city water system. Orofino will supply water free for a number of years to the hospital to amortize its two-thirds share in the cost under agreement to State Hospital North.

   Brian McGoldrick, Walla Walla, has opened a new sheet metal shop behind the Lolo Motor Freight Office on College Avenue.

60 Years Ago

   Sixty marooned hunters stuck on Lolo Motorway divide were rescued by a forest service bulldozer and brought out to Pierce.  The group included 12 children under six years of age. Other hunters made their way out to Montana Powell Ranger Station.
