Samatha Shelley was the 4-H Champion Showman in the goat category.
Emily Aultz was the 4-H Champion Showman in the poultry category.
Katie Elsbury was the 4-H Style Revenue winner and Tim Roehr was named 4-H leader of the year during the awards ceremony.

Joseph P. Eichert has been named to replace Cecil L. Aldrich as supervisor of the Idaho Department of Lands. Aldrich retired after a 30 year career.

Potlatch Corporation announced suspension of 1980 logging for about a dozen area gypos on the basis of lower production needs and shortage of available timber. Yarding of logs at Ahsahka has been reduced to emergency basis.

City of Orofino has begun construction of a new water crossing near the airport to provide service to agencies near the airport on the south side of the river. The city will provide $24,000 of the $101,000 project.

A six-man football, which is being introduced in most north Idaho schools, will be adopted here this fall. The game was invented for small schools and due to the scarcity of 11 man teams it will be used here.
