Three Orofino boys received diesel mechanic degrees from Idaho State University’s Vocational School. All three are 1987 OHS graduates and graduated with honors. Graduates were Dale Routh, Jim Stalnaker and Rick Armstrong.
Candy Nickers was named Non-Registered Halter Reserve Champion during the Clearwater County Fair Open Class horse show. The horse is owned and shown by Cindy Seeley.
Ida-Ho Mr. Kent Morgan gelding owned by Tammy Bird was named registered Halter Grand Champion during the Clearwater County Open Class Horse Show.

The newly formed Orofino High School Jazz Band won first place in the special units of Orofino‘s Lumberjack Days parade. Band members were Randy Lilya, Aaron Boston, Becky Morgan, Curt Steiner, Will Graham, Wade Wilson, and Denny Reinhardt. Scott Allen was the music instructor.
Stacy Ponozzo earned the top 4-H Beef Showmanship award.
Businesses that have purchased 4-H Livestock for ten consecutive years since the recognition program started in 1974 were honored at the 4-H Auction Saturday. Potlatch Forest transferred ownership of the former White Pine office building to the City of Orofino for multiple use and recreation.
Forest Service supervisor told chamber members unless $3 million in road money is made available to complete opening of the Canyon Ranger District Loop, the government will lose 477 million of pine in disease and insect in the next 10 years. A contract has been let on the Beaver Creek Road, which leads to the North Fork.
