With talented lumberjacks and jills on hand to thrill the crowd, the
62nd annual Orofino Lumberjack Days Logging Show was held
Sunday in the Orofino City Park logging arena.

The 62nd Annual Lumberjack Days Horse Pull once again was a main
attraction of this year’s events. There were 11 teams from around
the Pacific Northwest competing for the top spot.

victim found on Highway 12
A
47 year-old man, with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head,
was found in his vehicle by Department of Lands employees at the 5
Mile Rest Area along Highway 12 Tuesday morning.

Duke Day has been proclaimed in Weippe. A gala celebration will
commemorate the legacy of Weippe and its founder, Wellington “The
Duke” Landon, Thursday, Oct. 1, at 4 p.m. at the Weippe Cemetery.

The level
of fire danger has moved up to high within the past week, according
to a spokesperson for Clearwater - Potlatch Timber Protection
Association (C-PTPA).

rescue three fishermen from Clearwater River
The Clearwater County Sheriff Deputies responded to a call around
10:38 a. m. Monday that a boat sank in the Clearwater River near
Pink House Campground at milepost 37 on Highway 12.
