CVHC schedules flu clinics Sept. 30
Clearwater Valley Hospital and Clinics have scheduled their regular flu clinics, according to Vicky Petersen, RN.
Schedules
The Orofino clinic will provide shots on Wednesday, Sept. 30; Pioneer Medical Clinic in Pierce will host their flu clinic on Thursday, Oct. 1 and the Kooskia Medical Clinic on Friday, Oct. 2. The flu shots will be available from 9 a.m to noon and from 1:30-4:30 p.m. at each of the clinics. No appointments are necessary.
“We have not received a final notice about the availability and distribution of the H1N1 immunizations, but if we receive the vaccines we will publicize its availability,” said Petersen. “I know there are lots of people concerned about that type of flu. I’m sure its availability and locations for the immunizations will be highly publicized.”
Bring proof of insurance cards
According to Petersen, CVHC can bill Medicare, Medicaid and Champus so people should bring proof of insurance cards. “We cannot bill private insurance’s so those who don’t qualify for the above insurance’s should bring $35 for a flu shot and $55 if they would like a pneumonia vaccination. Costs are payable at time of visit.”
If people cannot schedule a visit during the scheduled flu shot clinics they are welcome to drop by at other times after those dates.
People who need flu shots
People who need flu shots the most are those in the high risk categories including individuals over the age of 65; residents of long term care facilities and those with compromised immune systems. Also, children and adults with chronic disorders of the pulmonary or cardiovascular systems, including asthma; patients with chronic metabolic diseases, including diabetes; those with kidney disease; women who will be in the second or third trimester of pregnancy during the influenza season and health care worker.
