
Yvonne and Earl Pickett, former Orofino residents now of Veradale, WA, are this year’s Orofino Lumberjack Days Grand Marshals. Due to unforeseen health complications they are unable to attend and will be represented by their son Randy and daughter-in-law Donette and their children, Spokane. The theme for the 62nd annual Lumberjack Days and Clearwater County Fair is Proud Past, Bright Future, which will be held this week, Thursday through Sunday.
Fair and Lumberjack Days offer something for everyone
Welcome to the 62nd Annual Clearwater County Fair and Orofino Lumberjack Days to be held this Thursday through Sunday, Sept. 17-20.
It’s free admission to the fair grounds and events which includes free admission to the big logging show to be held at 10 a. m. Sunday at the arena.
North Star Amusements Carnival opens for business Thursday afternoon. See an ad elsewhere in this newspaper for prices and times.
The food booths are always a big draw to the fairgrounds.
The Children’s Parade is at noon Friday in downtown Orofino and the big OCI parade starts at 10 a. m. Saturday in downtown Orofino.
The 4-H Awards Program and Style Revue will be held at 7 p. m. Friday at the Orofino High School.
The OCI auction starts at 12:30 (noon) Saturday at the fairgrounds and the Old Fashioned Social at the Museum will be held from 2 to 4 p. m. Saturday.
The 4-H Livestock Auction starts at 3 p. m. Saturday at the livestock barn followed by truck driving and skidder contest at 4 p.m. at the Debco storage yard area.
The popular horse pulling contest starts at 6:30 p. m. Saturday at the arena. The VFW dance with live music starts at 9 Saturday evening at the VFW hall on Michigan Ave.
There will be two Orofino Volunteer Fireman’s breakfasts served during the fair. The first is on Saturday from 6 to 9 a. m. and the second is Sunday from 7 to 10 a. m. Both will be held at the Community Center building below Pizza Factory.
The exhibit building will be open to the public Wednesday through Sunday. The Livestock barn will be open the same days.
