Snake & Lower Salmon rivers

The smallmouth bass fishing continues to be good. The bass have been averaging 8-12", but there are some bigger fish around for the lucky or persistent angler. Curly tail grubs and small crank baits are the standard offerings.

Mountain Rivers and Streams

Water levels are lower and streams and rivers are clear and very fishable. Fly anglers are doing very well now. Anglers on the Lochsa, Selway and North Fork Clearwater rivers are doing very well catching 10-16" westslope cutthroat and rainbow trout. Fishing is usually best in the morning. Small spinners, spoons, and most of the usual trout flies are the lures to use.
