Katie Eichert was awarded the Clearwater County Women of the Year title and Heidi Summer was named first runner-up. The dedication of Dworshak State Park was a dream come true for Idaho Senator Marguerite McLaughlin, who thanked all who helped on leading the state to accept Freeman Creek Campground and Three Meadow Group camp into the state park system.
Ground breaking ceremonies were held for the new $30 million Clearwater Fish Hatchery Complex to be built at Ahsahka.
Orofino High School Varsity Cheerleaders attended a recent NCA cheer camp at Gonzaga University. While there the girls received three excellent and one superior awards. Cheerleaders attending were Shileen Wager, Michell Wart, Missy Davis, Mary Jo Hall, Tracy Perrin, Chris Nielson, Amy Reed and Traci Johnson.

Clearwater-Potlatch Timber Protective Association was moving all out this week to fight the biggest fire of the 1984 season. The fire has spread to over 300 acres on some cut-over and reproduction lands seven miles north and east of Southwick.

School District 171 enrollment moved up to 2269 students about 43 more than last year.
Shortage of national forest timber has forced private timber owners to supply more than half of the timber harvested in the region in the past two years. A ten-year study of timber supplies showed that the forest service provided only 33 percent stumpage.

Principal Wilbur Montgomery has 118 in the seventh and 105 in the eighth for a total of 105. Orofino High School had 443 student registered the first day.

One span of the Peck Bridge fell into the Clearwater River. The span is on the Lewis Clark side of the bridge. It is estimated that $15,000 to $25,000 will be necessary to repair the bridge.
