work crew gives announcer’s booth a facelift
During the week of Aug. 31 inmates from the Idaho Correctional
Institution-Orofino (ICI-O), worked with Orofino Celebrations, Inc.
(OCI) to give the announcer booth at the Clearwater County
fairgrounds a facelift in time for the Sept. 17-20 Clearwater County
Fair.

The Orofino Farmer’s Market is still going strong and will continue
through the month of September and into October.

Clearwater Forest schedules travel management open houses
Individuals planning to comment about the Clearwater National
Forest’s travel management draft environmental impact statement have
been given more time to develop responses.

Emergency Services Day in Orofino Sept. 11
On the first
anniversary of the World Trade Center bombing the Clearwater County
Commissioners proclaimed Sept. 11 as Emergency Services Day.
The event for this year will take place Friday, Sept. 11, 4 to 8
p.m. at Orofino City Park.

Sept. 18 for OPD handgun class
Orofino Police Department (OPD) will host a final basic handgun
class for the year on Saturday, Sept. 26. Another class will not be
held until the spring of 2010.

Nine exhibitors and 12 dogs enjoyed the Clearwater County Fair Open
Class Dog Show Aug. 22 in the Orofino City Park.

Hole and other recreation sites to close for maintenance
The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) will close Pink House Hole, on
Riverside in Orofino, and other recreation sites and campgrounds for
routine maintenance following Labor Day weekend.

in August. Members have pledged themselves to preventing and
reducing substance abuse in Clearwater County.

A Cooper family and friends get-together was held Aug. 23 at Effie
McAllister’s home in Orofino. Over 50 family and friends enjoyed a
good time reminiscing and, of course, the great food.

Motorcyclist dies in crash near Weippe
According to an Idaho State Police report an accident Saturday, Aug.
29 involving a pickup and a motorcycle on State Highway 11, at
milepost 12.5, 5.5 miles west of Weippe, resulted in the death of a
72-year-old Emmett man.

ignites two small fires in Clearwater County
Clearwater-Potlatch Timber Protection Association (C-PTPA) received
two reports of fires ignited by lightening strikes this past week.

cell tower comes down

morning a Verizon crew took down the cell phone tower located on the
Verizon building next to the former Barnett-Thompson building.
