
One of Orofino’s well kept
secrets gets a minor facelift

Another treasure in our small
community, LEAP!, a local, non-profit school age (K-6) after school care and
educational program, located at 420 Michigan Avenue, got a much welcomed hand
with the completion of a long Honey-Do list.
Twelve inmates from the Idaho
Department of Corrections and Officer Darrah made it happen. The list included
roof patching, shelf building, scraping and priming the front porch, washing the
house, trimming a tree and the assembly of a mobile basketball hoop.
The inmates from IDOC and
Officer Darrah were professional, attentive to detail and skilled, completing
these tasks and more in one day. Collectively

Alliance sponsored programs, LEAP! offers excellent value for families of
children kindergarten through sixth grade. While LEAP! stands for Learning
Enrichment After-school Program, it is also a full time program during the
summer and is available full days on Friday during the school year. As the
summer winds down, we still provide drop in hourly care along with our regular
program and have begun registering students for the fall after school program.
LEAPS! Philosophy is that the
family is the primary source for growth, formation and education of its members.
LEAP! is designed to assist the family in fulfilling this role, with emotional
support, education and prevention based programs.
LEAP! provides a safe and
enjoyable surrounding for school children to build friendships, play games and
do sports. LEAP! responds to family concerns and focuses, through creative and
enriching activities.
Leap is just one of the
Clearwater Youth Alliance family. CYA sponsors holistic programs in our
community for children from infancy through high school. These programs include
CHEEP for infant to kindergarten aged children, LEAP! for children from
kindergarten through sixth grade, SynergyWorks! serving individuals fifth
through eighth grade and completing the circle for our youth through high school
