Idaho Dept. of Corrections workers recently repaired the LEAP! facilities on Johnson Avenue, Orofino.

One of Orofino’s well kept secrets gets a minor facelift

Another treasure in our small community, LEAP!, a local, non-profit school age (K-6) after school care and educational program, located at 420 Michigan Avenue, got a much welcomed hand with the completion of a long Honey-Do list.

Twelve inmates from the Idaho Department of Corrections and Officer Darrah made it happen. The list included roof patching, shelf building, scraping and priming the front porch, washing the house, trimming a tree and the assembly of a mobile basketball hoop.

The inmates from IDOC and Officer Darrah were professional, attentive to detail and skilled, completing these tasks and more in one day. Collectively Clearwater Youth Alliance and LEAP! are thankful for their assistance and invite you to visit our newly updated facility.

One of the Clearwater Youth Alliance sponsored programs, LEAP! offers excellent value for families of children kindergarten through sixth grade. While LEAP! stands for Learning Enrichment After-school Program, it is also a full time program during the summer and is available full days on Friday during the school year. As the summer winds down, we still provide drop in hourly care along with our regular program and have begun registering students for the fall after school program.

LEAPS! Philosophy is that the family is the primary source for growth, formation and education of its members. LEAP! is designed to assist the family in fulfilling this role, with emotional support, education and prevention based programs.

LEAP! provides a safe and enjoyable surrounding for school children to build friendships, play games and do sports. LEAP! responds to family concerns and focuses, through creative and enriching activities.

Leap is just one of the Clearwater Youth Alliance family. CYA sponsors holistic programs in our community for children from infancy through high school. These programs include CHEEP for infant to kindergarten aged children, LEAP! for children from kindergarten through sixth grade, SynergyWorks! serving individuals fifth through eighth grade and completing the circle for our youth through high school are the ManiYAC Teen Center and Maniac Productions.
