Platt – 90th Birthday

Forty-one people gathered for Ellen Platt’s surprise party Sunday. Ellen’s 90th birthday is actually Aug. 3 so she had “NO CLUE” what awaited her when she entered the Rebekah Lodge two days before her milestone birthday. Hidden in the darkened room were relatives from Monroe, WA; Hermiston, OR; and southern Idaho as well as relatives and friends from local areas who came to extend best wishes for her 90th.

Everyone had a wonderful time reminiscing about the past and discussing the summer fun each was enjoying. Cards and gifts were given to Ellen. Door prizes were awarded to many people. Of course, there were balloons and children popping them so it sounded like fire crackers exploding.

A barbecue with all the trimmings was given in Ellen’s honor. Son Scott Platt and friend Claudia Schrenipp Decker of Clarkston coordinated the surprise with Barbie and Tom Jared’s family. The Jared families are Ellen’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren. These family members and Weippe Rebekah lodge hosted the party.
