1860 Days Dutch oven Cook-Off held Aug. 7

    Dutch oven cooks are invited to test their skills at the Seventh Annual 1860 Days Dutch Oven Cook-Off, Saturday, Aug. 7. Registration and cooking begins at 3 p.m. at The Outback in Pierce.

    Participants should bring all their ingredients, Dutch ovens and utensils. Hot charcoal will be available or you can bring your own. A registration fee of $5 for each food entry includes one sample plate of food. A $40 prize will be rewarded to a winner in each category. Categories are: 1-Main Dish, 2-Bread or Side Dish, 3-Dessert.

    Beginning at 5 p.m. the public is invited to taste and judge the dishes. Each sample plate costs $5.  Last year’s winners, Harry Stenzel (Sweet and Sour Chicken), Annika Cook (Hashbrowns and Ham), Michelle Nelson and Heather Fallwell (Pot of S'mores), beat out long time Dutch oven Champion Melinda Davidson.

    The competition is sure to be tough but the food is guaranteed to be delicious. Don’t be late; portions are limited depending on the number of entries.
