Capital for a Day
This is the last issue
of the Clearwater Tribune before Governor Butch Otter and his staff come to
Pierce for "Capitol For A Day." What an opportunity for all of us to see
Idaho
state government in action! Just to make sure everyone is informed as to what
will actually happen that day, we are posting his itinerary again. What we know
is, the Governor will fly into Pierce around
8:30 and take a short tour of the
Pierce
Elementary School
with Major General Gary Saylor, head of the Idaho National Guard. Following the
tour the Governor will join his staff at the Community Center to conduct
"Capitol for A Day." All are invited to attend.
This event will take
place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Lori Otter's book will be read by Julie Jared in the
Pierce library to children at 11 a.m. and that each child will receive a copy.
Lunch will be provided for all at the Museum Courtyard on
Main Street,
Pierce from noon
to 1 p.m.
At 3 p.m.
the Governor will take a brief tour of historical Pierce in a horse drawn wagon
guided by local young people. He will end up at the old Pierce Courthouse where
he will make a proclamation from the Courthouse steps.
Special music will be
provided by Pierce Kids Ensemble and cake will follow the proclamation at the
Museum Courtyard across from the old Courthouse. Thank you to all of you who
have volunteered to make this event a success.
