2009 SHOW & SHINE BEST IN SHOW—This 1961 Ford Econoline van, nicknamed “Awesome Lady,” took Best and Show at the 6th Annual Orofino Show & Shine, held Saturday at Orofino City Park. The van is painted orange with yellow flame and is owned by Fred Oldenburg. Its engine, located in the rear of the van, is described on a poster on the inside of the rear passenger side door as being a “468 ci Blown Big Block Chevrolet Built TH400.” The poster describes the rear end/suspension as “Ford 9 inch Ladder Bar w/air ride.” The interior was done by Fred Oldenburg Vocational Upholstery Program, and the paint and custom body work was done by Fred and Brett Oldenburg. SHOW & SHINE MAYOR’S CHOICE WINNER—This year’s Show & Shine Mayor’s Choice award, chosen Saturday by Orofino Mayor Ryan Smathers, went to Orofino resident Al Litostansky’s light metallic blue 1920s Ford T-Bucket. Litostansky used all custom, all Ford parts on the vehicle, which was painted with cobwebs. At the center of one of the cobwebs is the Chevrolet cross logo. Photo by Tim McTevia

SHOW & SHINE PEOPLE’S CHOICE WINNER—This black 1965 Ford Mustang convertible, owned by the late Jann Atkinson, was the 2009 Show & Shine People’s Choice award winner. Jann, who was the secretary for and charter member of the Orofino Show & Shine Planning Committee, passed away March 11. This year’s Show & Shine, held Saturday, was dedicated to her memory.
