    Orofino’s Show and Shine Committee members would like to express their appreciation to all the participants that helped make the seventh annual Orofino Show & Shine successful again this year.

  • $3.85 million school bond goes to voters Sept. 2
    After months of deliberation, community workshop meetings and a certified telephone poll of the School District #171 patrons the school board passed a motion to present to the voters a bond in the amount of $3.85 million. The bond election will be held Sept. 2 and will be used for building and maintenance.

  • Pierce to host August “Capital for a Day”
    Governor C.L. “Butch” Otter announced July 16 that the Clearwater County community of Pierce will be Idaho’s “Capital for a Day” on Wednesday, Aug. 4.

    County horse shows are a part of the Clearwater County Fair. They are held early due to limited time and space during the fair. The Fair Board hopes you will enjoy both horse shows either as a participant or a spectator.

  • Rotary Club Foundation offers $1,100 scholarship
    The Rotary Club Foundation in Orofino is accepting applications for the Orofino Rotary’s 2010 Memorial Scholarship. John Loseth, Father Michael Spegele, Omar Danielson, Preston Teed and John Swayne were Rotarians that exemplified Rotary’s motto: “Service Above Self.”

  • Orofino Kiwanis 5th Annual Lumberjack Fun Run/Walk Sept. 11
    The Orofino Kiwanis Club is sponsoring its 5th annual Fun Run/Walk the Saturday before Lumberjack Days. Saturday, Sept. 11 at 9 a.m., the 5K (3.1 mile) run/walk will begin at Orofino City Park.

  • Thefts are occurring at thrift stores
    In the spirit of a “neighborhood watch,” citizens are asked to report anyone seen taking items which are placed for donation to Orofino’s thrift shops.

  • Motorcycle driver ejected in collision with deer
    Alan W. Sells, 46, of Stanford, OR was driving a 2004 Harley Davidson motorcycle east on US 12 at MP42.7 when a deer ran out in front of him.
