Logging truck loses load on Dent Bridge Road

A loaded 1996 Western Star logging truck lost its load of logs after its hitch tube broke Thursday, according to the Clearwater County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO).

CCSO received the report at approximately 4:42 a.m. Thursday. The incident occurred on Dent Bridge Road, Orofino, at milepost 1, near the turnoff to Wixson Heights.

Jared Russell of Grangeville was driving the truck, owned by Cory Supak of Weippe, and was negotiating a curve when the vehicle’s hitch tube broke. This caused the truck’s trailer to travel across the road and strike the bank, spilling the load of logs, according to CCSO.

There were no injuries. Orofino Fire Department’s rescue unit assisted with traffic control. The logs were removed by a self loader belonging to Mangum’s Trucking of Orofino.
