C-PTPA fights two fires

According to Kevin Korbel, Fire Program Planner for C-PTPA, the Association fought two fires on Saturday, July 12. The first fire was a holdover fire from a non-permitted debris pile burned earlier in the week. The one acre fire was located near Weseman Cemetery.

A helicopter responding to the fire dropped nine bucket loads of water on the fire. Also responding was a Type 4 and Type 6 engine, a C-PTPA incident commander and six crew men. Also responding was the Twin Ridge Rural Fire District.

C-PTPA also helped the Kamiah District Idaho Department of Lands battle a fire located a quarter mile east of the Gilbert Grade turnoff. The fire, which is of suspicious cause, burned ¼ acre into timber.

Battling this fire were two C-PTPA engines, six incident commanders and six C-PTPA personnel. Orofino City Rural Fire Department also responded to this fire, bringing a water cannon, which was very helpful knocking down the fire, according to Korbel.

Korbel also reminded residents that all burn permits are now suspended due to the increasingly dry conditions.
