Clearwater Human Needs Councils meets July 20

Carrol Fredericksen    Amanda Tucker of Lewis-Clark State College Orofino Outreach Center will be the speaker Tuesday, July 20, at noon at the Krystal Café.

She will discuss the various programs that are offered through the center including college courses, enrichment classes and GED tutoring and testing. Since coming to direct the center, Tucker has worked to expand the types of programs that are offered in the community, especially enrichment classes. In addition she will speak about Bridges Out of Poverty and how the community can become involved in helping.

At a recent meeting of CHNC, Carrol Fredericksen (pictured) of Nazarene Compassionate Ministries explained their clothing giveaways. The clothing is donated and available to anyone and everyone. The giveaways are generally held once a month, usually at the church. However, sometimes they utilize other locations as well. In May they served over 300 community members.

August will be a back-to-school giveaway. Coat giveaways usually begin in October.

They always need donations of clothing for children sizes infant to 14, boys and men. Volunteers are also needed to assist with putting out clothing before the giveaways and putting away the clothing afterward.

For further information about the clothing giveaways, contact the Nazarene Church at 476-5158.
