She will discuss the
various programs that are offered through the center including college courses,
enrichment classes and GED tutoring and testing. Since coming to direct the
center, Tucker has worked to expand the types of programs that are offered in
the community, especially enrichment classes. In addition she will speak about
Bridges Out of Poverty and how the community can become involved in helping.
At a recent meeting of
CHNC, Carrol Fredericksen (pictured) of Nazarene Compassionate Ministries explained their
clothing giveaways. The clothing is donated and available to anyone and
everyone. The giveaways are generally held once a month, usually at the church.
However, sometimes they utilize other locations as well. In May they served over
300 community members.
August will be a
back-to-school giveaway. Coat giveaways usually begin in October.
They always need
donations of clothing for children sizes infant to 14, boys and men. Volunteers
are also needed to assist with putting out clothing before the giveaways and
putting away the clothing afterward.
