An organizational meeting for
a new support group for people with a gluten intolerance or celiac disease is
set for
Gluten is a natural substance
found in members of the wheat and barley family, and used as an additive or
thickener in many canned and baked goods. However, up to 40 percent of the
population tests as sensitive to gluten, partly due to over-saturation in our
food supply.
The most extreme form of
gluten intolerance is known as celiac disease, and affects one in 133 people.
Symptoms may include recurring digestive tract problems (bloating, heartburn,
IBS), memory loss (often diagnosed as Alzheimers), underweight, and many others.
Research shows that only one in 20 people with this disease are accurately
