Melissa is keeping us up to date on Summer Reading’s progress. She says, “It's hard to believe that Summer Reading is already half over. We've had a lot of fun "being creative". Last weeks theme was "Chalk Art" and Britney Goodrich did a wonderful presentation. Next weeks theme is "Jewelry Making" and we will have Patty Blain doing the presentation at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, July 15. We will also have crafts from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. that day.”
A Game Night is planned for Teens and Tweens Only on Friday, July 10 from 6 to 9 p.m. It's going to be fun for all kids ages 10 to 19. Come check out our new games for the Wii and XBox and try out our new couch in the Teen Zone. Popcorn and refreshments will be served.
Around and about
Janet OCrowley’s poppies are a bright spot on the Weippe landscape. The irises were a welcome sight, but now past their prime. Keep checking her yard to see what comes up next.
Weippe Fire Dept. was on hand to feed the people at the Weippe Mini-Park over the 4th. Garbage dogs are the best! They appreciate our support. The department is having a car wash July 18 at the Fire Hall from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Wedding reception
A wedding reception for Josh and Ashley Blaine will be held at the Weippe Mini-Park Saturday, July 18 at 7 p.m. Patty says come ready to play softball and horseshoes. The Blaines will be in the area for a few months before returning to Oklahoma where Ashley will complete her student teaching.
Hunter Education
A summer Hunter Education Course for students is being offered in Weippe at the Discovery Center and is scheduled for July 21, 23, 28, 30, Aug. 4, 6, 10, 11, 13 from 6-8 p.m. with the field and range exercise set for Aug. 8 from 8 a.m. to noon. Register by calling Walt Harney at 435-4762. Fee is $8. Anyone born after Jan. 1, 1975 must complete a hunter education course before purchasing an Idaho hunting license.
Living Ready
Don Gardner, Clearwater County Emergency Manger will lead a preparedness workshop Tuesday, July 14, 7 p.m. at the Fraser Community Center. Discussion will center on ways to prepared yourself and your community in regards to disruption of services and shortages of essential items. Want more info? Call Don Gardner at 476-4064.
More things for kids
Pierce Community Center offers Board Game Night from 5-7 on Monday, July 14. Tuesday is Ping Pong night, also from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, July 15 a Water Park trip is planned. Thursday night from 6-8 is regular move and popcorn night. The gym is closed all next week.
Rebekahs
White Pine Rebekahs had their last meeting for the season and will next meet in September. They will be busy this summer with food booths at several events and overseeing the application of a new roof. Membership is growing in the group.
