Wine tasting in Pierce set for Saturday

   The 2010 Pierce-Weippe Chamber of Commerce Wine Tasting promises to be a lovely and relaxing evening. You are invited this Saturday, July 10 from 6–8:30 p.m. to the Timber Inn Courtyard in Pierce.

   Odom Corporation of Lewiston will be providing eight wines for sampling, including some very interesting names: Tamas Double Decker Red, Brazin Old Vine Zinfandel (both from California), Choco Vine (a cabernet with chocolate from Holland), Shingleback Black Bubbles Sparkling Shiraz (from Australia), Joel Gott Cabernet Sauvignon.

   The white wines will be: Ménage a Trios’ Chardonnay, Rodney Strong Charlotte’s Home Sauvignon Blanc (both of California) and Chateau Ste. Michelle Harvest Select Riesling (from Washington).

   Cost of sampling is $20 per person and includes six tastes of wine, a delicious and abundant array of appetizers (shrimp pastries, dohlmas – stuffed grape leaves, sausage stuffed mushrooms, petit fours from Ronatta’s – just to name a few), and a chance at winning a door prize. Several wine goodie baskets will be available for purchase by silent auction.

   In conjunction with Pierce’s yearlong Sesquicentennial celebration, the public is invited to hear Dennis Baird from the Wine Company of Moscow speak on “The History of Wine in Idaho”. Mr. Baird will speak at 7 p.m. for 20-30 minutes. There is no charge for just listening, however, we do request that you arrive at least 10 minutes before 7 p.m. Water, coffee, tea and brownies will be available served to those not wishing to purchase wine tasting tickets. Remember to bring your Miner’s Claim Card for stamping.
