Copperhood Girls Softball Team had an outstanding weekend winning the B division trophy in the 20 team Round Robin Invitational in Moscow. Team members are Holly Hoyle, Andy Stacy, Julie Roby, Tammy Clark, Sandy LaDoux, Jean Leaton, Laurie Nyggard, Julie Hollibuagh, Bonnie Boring, Kim Barnett, Colleen Schannell, Tracie Bessent, Cindy Statum, and Heidi Jenni. The team is coached by Steve Nyggard, Mark Nyggard and Shannon Wilson.
Gordon and Lillie Thiessen of Spokane are the new managers of Konkolville Motel. The Thiessens are former Orofino residents and have been managing motels in the area for the past few years.
The first annual Two Man Best Ball was held at the Orofino Golf Course with a team of Randy Steiner and Tim Dupeau, scoring 138 to win first low gross division. Other team players Guy Secaur, Bob Thomason, Mike Eimers Frank Best tied for second low gross with a 143. Rodger Henderson and Randy Walsh had third low net with 119. Bryan Cash and Fred Nolan also tied for second low gross with a 143. Terry Finke and Corby Finke were second low net winners with a 118. Jim Soule with Larry Swandic were first low net winners with a 114. Ned Cannon and Jerry Chavaz had the longest drive. Randy Steiner and Buz Oud were closet to the pin Saturday and Gus Peterson and Everett Hammond on Sunday.

Orofino National Guard is in training in bridge building at a summer camp east of Cascade.
Bill Bird, commissioner, turned over keys to an emergency van to be used by Pierce-Weippe residents for an ambulance.
Bill and Jim Crutcher, long time area residents, have purchased the Oasis Tavern.
General Telephone Company has asked phone patrons to use restraint from calling Peck, Weippe, Pierce and Headquarters until more lines can be installed.

Dr. Maurice Masar who has been with the Northside Medical Clinic Center, has purchased the Orofino Clinic on Michigan Avenue and will also provide ofices for Dr. Constanstancio Cleto. Dr. Clavin Reber is leaving Orofino after 10 years to enter practice at St. Anthony.
Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Schmidt of Fraser have launched a new house boat “Wally’s Folly” at Big Eddy Marina on Dworshak Reservoir.
