School board okays
maintenance/operation budget
The June 1 district
enrollment was 1,130 students. The number of students is down four students from
the previous month and down 95 students from last year’s enrollment in June.
Other business conducted by
the board included:
Sarah Potratz was hired by
the board as Orofino High math teacher.
Results of the telephone
survey last week on a proposed bond election for the district’s building fund
will be reviewed at a special meeting July 8 at the school district office.
Progressive Engineers gave
the board a $275,000 cost estimate on the Timberline Wastewater System
Improvement project. No decision was made. Members felt if some of the prep work
was done beforehand costs could be reduced.
Bids on replacement of
Orofino Elementary gym roof will be received through June 30.
The board decided to keep the
programs office at its current location.
Sharilynn Kelly, school
psychologist, will take on the responsibilities as special education director
and will work with Supt. Dale Durkee in that position.
Sallie Wilhelm, a former Orofino Junior High teacher, who retired this year received a warm response on her presentation of her years of drug education instructor at the school.
