Drillers began assembling at
Dworshak Dam to probe for the cause of a 4000 to 5000 per gallon per minute leak
that developed at the structure and threatened running into the floor of the
power house building. Sand bagging and pumps were rushed to the area to divert
the water and sluices around the main structure at the foot of the 600 foot dam.
Meanwhile the dam spillways were opened to release 8000 second feet of overflow
after the dam reservoir reached its normal level.
