   Brianne Spence graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Idaho on May 14. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Communications Studies with minors in Writing and Psychology.

   Amy Huffman chose to accept her appointment to West Point Military Academy. The recent Orofino High School Grad and 2005 co-Valedictorian had appointments to the Naval Academy and Air Force Academy also.

   The award for Top Leadership Team in the nation for small hospitals was presented to Clearwater Valley Hospital and St. Maryís Hospital by Health Leaders Magazine based in Nashville, TN.

   Clearwater Countyís finest football players will show their skills on the gridiron Friday at Moscowís Kibbie Dome as District II takes on District I in the second District All-Star football game. Orofino players taking part are Craig Bowmer, defensive back; Wade Wilson, quarterback; Brian Roy, defensive back; Dave Hughan, defensive back; Robert Morasch, offensive lineman and Jason Grindall, kicker and line backer.

   Catherine Masar received notification recently that she has been offered admission to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point.

   Eric W. Olson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Olson, graduated with distinction from the Naval Academy at Annapolis on May 22nd and was commissioned as Ensign.

   Don Gray of Pierce carded his first hole-in-one at the Orofino Golf Course. Gray, who has golfed for 12 years, attained the feat on #12 par three at 299 yards. The hole-in-one was witnessed by his wife Mabel and Ron Bernard and his wife Larea, all of Pierce.

   Drillers began assembling at Dworshak Dam to probe for the cause of a 4000 to 5000 per gallon per minute leak that developed at the structure and threatened running into the floor of the power house building. Sand bagging and pumps were rushed to the area to divert the water and sluices around the main structure at the foot of the 600 foot dam. Meanwhile the dam spillways were opened to release 8000 second feet of overflow after the dam reservoir reached its normal level.

   Pomeretees for O.H.S. next year are Delores Dodson, Annette Adams, Stacy Snyder, Julie Ashby, Lori Faucett and Kecia Sharrai.

   Supporters of the Pioneer Medical Clinic at Pierce have raised $2,000 in a drive to continue the program which is operated by Dr. Robert Hill.

   Russell Ehlinger, Bruce Noble and Gary Bessent are Orofino delegates to Boyís State in Boise.

   A library and six new classrooms and sanitary facilities are part of the new addition to the grade school being built by Everett Hollibaugh.

   S&M Construction has agreed to provide 11,800 square feet of space for a new Clearwater Forest Supervisorís office at an annual cost of $2.59 per square foot. The company has an option of two acres of Miles Addition land on Ahsahka Road.

   The largest timber sale in the history of the Clearwater Forest will be offered July 20 when the Canyon block area Quartz Creek sale of 163 million feet goes on the market. The sale is 13 million feet larger than the Cedars-Trout sale made in 1961, on which the Diamond National is still logging.

   Lewiston cafes have begun saving ration points by serving no red meats or butter on Tuesdays and Fridays.
