Walrath Insurance
celebrates 100 years
The Walrath Insurance Agency
was started in Orofino by Harry L. Walrath in 1910. The business moved to their
present location (formerly
In 1923, Ted Walrath joined
the agency, and in 1941 he bought out U.S. Mix and directed the business after
his father’s death in 1945. The third generation of fathers and sons came to be
when Harry C. Walrath joined the firm in 1960.
In 1979 Neal Johnson joined the firm. He
became a partner in 1981, purchased the agency in 1990, and continues operating
it today.
With a hundred years of
service behind them, the agency is celebrating their anniversary with a street
party on Friday, June 25 from
Free food (barbequed hot dogs,
hamburgers, and chips and drinks) will be available. Also, there will be a sno-cone
machine to offer refreshments for kids of all ages. There will be prize drawings
every hour, for those who register, with the grand prize being two Seattle
Mariner tickets (which also include garage parking tickets).
Harry Walrath will be present
to celebrate, along with past employees and representatives of all their
insurance carriers.
