Walrath Insurance celebrates 100 years

The Walrath Insurance Agency was started in Orofino by Harry L. Walrath in 1910. The business moved to their present location (formerly Fidelity State Bank Building) in 1922 when the building was purchased from Samson Snyder.

In 1923, Ted Walrath joined the agency, and in 1941 he bought out U.S. Mix and directed the business after his fatherís death in 1945. The third generation of fathers and sons came to be when Harry C. Walrath joined the firm in 1960.

In 1979 Neal Johnson joined the firm. He became a partner in 1981, purchased the agency in 1990, and continues operating it today.

With a hundred years of service behind them, the agency is celebrating their anniversary with a street party on Friday, June 25 from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.

Free food (barbequed hot dogs, hamburgers, and chips and drinks) will be available. Also, there will be a sno-cone machine to offer refreshments for kids of all ages. There will be prize drawings every hour, for those who register, with the grand prize being two Seattle Mariner tickets (which also include garage parking tickets).

Harry Walrath will be present to celebrate, along with past employees and representatives of all their insurance carriers.

A portion of College Avenue, between Johnson Avenue and Main Streets will be blocked off for the celebration. The public is invited.
