Mop Shoppe

Linda Smith has relocated her shop to 204 S. Main St. Pedicures and manicures are available now. Call 464-2663 for appt.

Pierce 1860 Days

A theme was not chosen for this year’s 1860 Days. It was decided not to have a theme, hopefully to encourage more to participate in the parade. We appreciate the submissions by two students at Timberline School, Mattie Brouwers and Wyatt Matthes, for their artwork and involvement in the theme contest.

Events are shaping up smoothly for this year’s celebration; we have numerous vendors, both with food and crafts, and more old-fashioned fun for kids and kids-at-heart.

An infantry reenactment group based at Fort Walla Walla will have a historic encampment which will show much of what this area was like when there were territories, before statehood. This should be educational and entertaining.

The Hell’s Canyon Ghost Riders from Lewiston will be shootin’ it up – at fixed targets, showing off their skills. This will be a new spectator event, and we welcome this group also.
One important notice: The drawing for the ATV trailer. Due to time constraints of the builder, Butler Trailer Manufacturing, this trailer will be a single-ATV trailer, with all the "bells and whistles". Features include an 8’ x 66" tilt-bed with cushion cylinder, a 3500# drop axle, and electric brakes. It comes with a complete spec sheet, and will be on display in front of the shop building (Jerry and Kathy’s) at Main and Moscrip after June 6. We are sure that anyone would be pleased to own this excellent, versatile trailer. If anyone has bought tickets for the original 2-ATV trailer, and wishes to exchange their tickets for another drawing item, feel free to call Kathy at
464-1083. We apologize for any inconvenience.
Ticket sales are in full swing for the ATV Trailer, the ½ oz Gold Miner Charm from Gold Pan Dan’s, and the full size log bed, from Pioneer Log Homes. Tickets are $1 each, or 6 for $5, and may be found at Timber Inn, Pierce Hardware, A Blue Moose, Studio 205, The Vug, The Roost, S & S Foods, The Mop Shoppe, Olive’s Auto Parts, Clearwater Saw Sales, White Pine Credit Union, and the Pierce Mini-Mart. We appreciate the participation of these businesses.

John Bergen of Pierce has donated a custom-crafted stainless steel fire ring for the auction following the parade, August 1. This beautifully designed and cut fire ring will be on display at A Blue Moose Mercantile. You will want to be bidding on this one-of-a-kind work of art.

Pierce 1860 Days T-Shirts are coming soon! Get yours early! The next meeting of the Pierce 1860 Days committee will be Thursday, June 11, 6 p.m. at A Blue Moose in Pierce. We welcome everyone with energy and enthusiasm.

It’s our goal to be able to display flags at the Pierce Cemetery on special days. The members have chosen Memorial Day, Flag Day June 14, July 4, Labor Day, and 1860 Days as flag display days.

To accomplish our goal, we are asking for donations to purchase Memorial flags. This project is intended to beautify our cemetery and honor our Veterans and loves ones who have served and sacrificed for us. The purchase price of $100 includes the flag, flagpole, hardware to attach flag, in ground pole holder, and memorial plaque.      Any individual or group may purchase a flag in memory of a Veteran or loved one, regardless of whether the person is buried at the Pierce Cemetery. Anyone wishing to assist with this project by making a donation of $100 may do so by contacting Dan and Patty Goodrich at 464-2333 or Ed Ogden at 464-2534.
