Happenings on the Hilltop…

   Nick and Rhonda Rhoads are being visited by grandchildren, Klaton and Kourtney Rhoads of Hawaii  and Reese Berry of Vancouver, WA. Carl Rhoads, Klaton and Kourtney’s father, is a Chaplin serving with the Marines in Afghanistan and is expected to return soon to Kaneohe, Hawaii where he is stationed. Reese and Mom Ester Rhoads Berry met the cousins at the Portland airport and delivered them to Weippe for their visit.

Senior Meal Site Lunch Menu

   Thursday, June 10 – Beef stew, vegetables, salad, peaches, cake, and milk. Monday, June 14 – Sweet & sour pork, oriental vegetables, noodles or rice, salad, fruit & milk. Hilltop Senior Center is a wonderful place to meet friends while enjoying great food.

Pinewood Derby

   The Pinewood Derby was held at the Wesleyan Church Saturday, June 5.  Winners of race categories:

1] Kids - Jaron Christopherson 2] Teens and Adults – Brittney Goodrich and 3] Overall fastest – Brittney Goodrich. Winners of design categories: 1] Kids – Cameron Summerfield, 2] Teens – Austin Blain & Adults – tie between Brittney Goodrich & Tom Blain.  These cars are designed from a block of wood to be 5 oz or less measuring 7” X 2 ¾”. The track was created by Emerald Hutchins and has an electric timer.  This was an exciting event enjoyed by children and adults.

Plant Sale

   There was a large selection of both common and uncommon plants offered at the Rebekahs’ plant sale Saturday. Almost all the plants were purchased. They are appreciative of the support.


   We would like to express sympathy to the friends and family of Frank Dietz. Frank is a long time resident of the Weippe area with extended family and friends.
