Pierce Sesquicentennial Pavilion Project – 80’s Party Fundraiser

2009 Eighties Fundraiser Attendees Brandi Crawford and Susie Fitzwater.    Plan to attend a “Totally Awesome Retro 80's Party” this Saturday, June 12 from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. at The Vug in Pierce. There will be Karaoke by Kat Walk Karaoke, snacks, games, drink specials, a 50/50 Raffle, and more! The cover charge is $5 per person and a portion of the evening’s proceeds will go to help the Pierce Mountain GEM Community Team build a new Pavilion at the Pierce Play Park.

2010 is Pierce’s Sesquicentennial, and to memorialize the occasion, the Pierce GEM Team has initiated the Pierce Sesquicentennial Commemorative Play Park Pavilion project. This covered structure will feature a stone fireplace and barbeque to give visitors a place to enjoy the park and be protected from the sun and elements - perfect for any celebratory event.

To date, over 50 members of the Pierce and Orofino communities have donated towards the project. In exchange for a minimum $50 donation, the donor’s name is posted on an engraved plaque, and he/she receives a personalized copy of Pierce Chronicle, a journal of Captain E.D. Pierce’s gold-seeking adventures. (These adventures  resulted in the founding of Pierce and the state of Idaho.

The Pierce Chronicle is out-of-print, and only 150 copies of this historic book are left. Twenty of these books will be available for sale at Saturday’s 80’s Party, and one lucky buyer will win a special prize!

So, dig through your closets for 80‘s fashions, get out your slap bracelets, big hair and aviators and join us for some RETRO fun - and be a part of constructing a lasting, commemorative structure. For more information, call Carmen 464-1088 or Brandi 464-2443.
