Deer Creek Fishing Tournament is June 12, on Idaho Free Fishing Day

   The annual Deer Creek Reservoir Fishing tournament will be held from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, June 12, which is also Idaho Free Fishing Day.

   Weigh-in is at 2:30 p.m. There is a six fish limit, and prizes are based on the total weight. First prize is $400, second is $200, and third is $100. The person who catches the largest individual fish will win a custom fishing rod created by Black Dog Tackle and donated by Pierce Hardware.

   Registration costs $20. Pre-registration is available at the Timber Inn or Pierce Hardware, both in Pierce. You may also register at the reservoir.

   A separate tournament will be held for children ages 12 and under. There is no entry fee.

   This event is part of the Pierce Sesquicentennial weekend, so remember to bring your Miner’s Claim Card.

   Because the tournament is held on Idaho Free Fishing Day, you do not need a fishing license in order to participate.

Directions

   Deer Creek Reservoir is located approximately 11 miles north of Pierce, on State Highway 11. Driving along Highway 11, look for the Fish and Game access sign near historic Townsite 4 (Washington Creek Road). Turn east and travel approximately one and a half miles, then turn at the Deer Creek Reservoir access sign. Half a mile from this turn-off you will arrive at the reservoir.
