CLEARWATER TRIBUNE HOME

Play practice well underway

Diane Hairston, play director for the Clearwater Memorial Public Library’s Mystery Dinner Theater to be held June 11, 12, and 13, has announced that character parts are all assigned, and practice began in earnest this week for the “event of the year” to be held at the High Country Inn.  “The mystery play and dinner is sure to fit everyone’s fancy,” added Diane, who is well qualified to make such a statement, bringing with her an outstanding list of credentials for directing a play.

Her B.S. degree from Eastern Washington University in Theater–Acting and Directing, followed by several stints with Spokane Civic Theater, Lewiston Civic Theater, as well as at the University in both directing and acting has prepared Diane extremely well for her present “civic” role as director of the library’s event.

The mystery play will be combined with a fine dinner prepared by Jo Moore and her volunteer staff, and guests have a choice of three entrees and which of the three evenings they would like to attend.  There is also an opportunity to sponsor a table in addition to the price of tickets, as an extra way to help the library.

Pre-sold tickets are $40 for singles, $75 couples, and are available by calling Jo Moore at 476-7570 or Lane Mayer at 476-3593.  Time of the events will be 6 p.m. social hour Friday and Saturday, followed by dinner at 7 p.m., and 5 p.m. on Sunday, with dinner served at 6 p.m.

Raffle tickets are also being sold for some excellent prizes, including a Dooney and Bourke red leather handbag with $50 cash enclosed; a hand-thrown set of lovely pottery by Bernadette Delallo; a romantic getaway overnight at the High Country Inn, and a rolling insulated cooler stuffed with gourmet picnic items.  These prizes can be seen in the window of the Fiesta en Jalisco restaurant window during the week.  Tickets are $5 each or 6 for $25.

For more information, call Jo at the High Country Inn, 476-7570.
