  • Kevin Korbel retires from C-PTPA
    Kevin Korbel will be honored at retirement party Saturday, May 22 at 1 p.m. at the VFW Hall. He has been working with C-PTPA (Clearwater-Potlatch Timber Protection Association) for the last four years.

  • Primary election is Tuesday, May 25
    The two races to be decided in Tuesday’s primary election includes the race for Clearwater County Commissioner District 2 between incumbent Stan Leach and political newcomer Clel Fay.

  • School levy passes by 219 votes
    The May 18 supplemental levy election for school maintenance and operations passed Tuesday night by a margin of 219 votes. There were 4,430 registered voters at the time of the election, and 1108 ballots cast.

  • Orofino High School commencement is May 29
    Eighty-four Orofino High School seniors will be graduated in commencement exercises at 8 p.m. Saturday, May 29 at the Orofino High School gymnasium.

  • Dworshak scheduled releases increase to assist outmigrating salmon
    In response to a request from regional fish managers, the Corps will increase water releases at Dworshak Dam and Reservoir starting May 19 to help ESA-listed outmigrating juvenile salmon in the lower Clearwater and lower Snake Rivers, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers officials announced Monday.

  • Absentee and mail precinct ballots are due May 25
    Mail precinct ballots and absentee ballots must be returned by 8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 25 to the Clearwater County Auditor and Recorder's Office to be counted.

  • Leach knows the needs of the county well enough to serve
    Stan Leach, incumbent Clearwater County District 2 Commissioner, was born in Moscow in 1960 to Ted and Donna Leach and moved to Orofino with his family in 1964.

  • Ahsahka man found deceased
    Patrick David McMillan, 55, was found deceased Sunday from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to the Clearwater County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO).

  • Marras appearing at Weippe Camas Festival
    Idaho native son and internationally renowned photographer Ben Marra, along with wife and collaborator, Linda, will be one of the featured program highlights at the 10th annual Camas Festival in Weippe Saturday, May 29.

  • Lenore teen dies in crash near Culdesac
    A 19-year-old Lenore resident died early Tuesday morning in a single-vehicle crash on U.S. 95 near Culdesac.

  • Stephen Kessinger receives medical degree
    Stephen Ray Kessinger, son of A. Jay and the late DonLina Lund Kessinger of Orofino, received his medical degree at the graduation ceremony for the Touro University College of Osteopathic Medicine Nevada held at the Paris Hotel in Las Vegas, NV on May 16.

  • Land donated for Upper Fords Creek fire station
    Bill and Sandy Heinrich have donated one and a half acres of land to the Upper Fords Creek Rural Fire Department.

  • Play practice well underway
    Diane Hairston, play director for the Clearwater Memorial Public Library’s Mystery Dinner Theater to be held June 11, 12, and 13, has announced that character parts are all assigned, and practice began in earnest this week for the “event of the year” to be held at the High Country Inn.

  • Orofino income survey May 26-27
    The Orofino Mayor Ryan Smathers and the City Council would like the citizens of Orofino to know that the city will be conducting a random Low to Moderate Income (LMI) Survey to determine our community's eligibility for an Idaho Community Development Block Grant (ICDBG).

  • District 171 Facility Workgroup recommends construction bond
    Joint School District 171 held a Facility Workgroup meeting May 17, to discuss building plans for proposed new facilities within the district. Superintendent Dale Durkee said that the Workgroup’s task was to examine the needs and the buildings, and to make recommendations to the board on their findings.

  • Wolf culling to be allowed by outfitters
    Following the first ever regulated wolf hunt in Idaho in 2009-2010, 188 wolves were taken in an effort to control the growing wolf population.

    Timberline High School held its annual Awards Banquet May 12. This annual event is to honor academic excellence in pupils and acknowledge parents for their contributions resulting in the success of their children.
