Logging truck wrecks on
Southwick Grade
A logging truck’s brake
malfunction resulted in a 100-gallon diesel fuel spill Monday morning, according
to the Idaho State Police (ISP).
A loaded 1992
International logging truck driven by 49-year-old Phillip L. Fleener was
westbound on the Southwick Grade near Kendrick May 10. At
Fleener used an access
road as a runaway truck ramp and managed to stop the truck in the trees.
Approximately 100 gallons of diesel fuel spilled, which classified the incident
as a regulatory hazmat spill, according to ISP. No waterways were affected.
Fleener was not injured and was not wearing his seatbelt, according to ISP. He
was cited for unsafe equipment.
Cpl. Smith was the investigating officer, with assistance from Sgt. Doty and Troopers Gilbertson, Youngren and Kitchen.
