The supplemental levy,
approved annually by voters, becomes part of the district’s general budget and
provides over 20 percent ($1 of every $5) of the general budget. About 85
percent of general budget expenditure is for staff (salaries and benefits). The
general budget pays for most district expenses including building utilities,
building maintenance, transportation, salaries, benefits, textbooks and
supplies.
This levy is for ongoing maintenance and
operation expenses. It is not for construction purposes.
Based on 2009 market values
and home-owners exemptions, an increase in the supplemental levy of $250,000
would result in the following:
Property assessed at
$100,000: an increase of $22.04 per year or $1.84 per month.
Property assessed at
$200,000: an increase of $44.07 per year or $3.67 per month.
Based on 2009 market values
and home-owner exemptions, the $1,740,000 supplemental levy would result in a
$153.37 tax for a property assessed at $100,000 and $306.74 tax for a property
