CLEARWATER TRIBUNE HOME

"Sidewalk Louie" Ogden to celebrate his 90th birthday

Pierce invites you to join Louie Ogden and help celebrate his 90th birthday at the Timber Inn Thursday, May 15 from 2-4 p.m. Bring your favorite dish for a potluck, meat will be furnished.

Louie was born May 15, 1918 in the Kendrick area to Jessy Chapman Ogden and Louie Ogden. He was raised on the Gilbert Grade and attended school at Gilbert. He was in the military for several years and then moved back to the area.    Louie helped take care of his sister who had polio and also helped a sister go to school for nursing. He lived in the Peck area for six years before moving to Pierce in 1965. Louie worked for numerous logging companies as a bucker before an injury to his knee retired him. He has never married.

Louie is well known in Pierce, going by several nicknames: Chicken Killer, Sidewalk Louie and Screamin' Louie. For years you could visit with him any time of day as he would sit on one of the many benches that he built that line Main Street or in later years as he sits in his pick up. Louie knows no stranger and will visit with everyone.

The last few years he has suffered several accidents, a broken hip, knee replacements and currently he cracked his pelvis in a fall and is recuperating at his good friend Tracy’s home.

Please join the community in honoring one of their well known and loved characters.
