Volunteer Ombudsmen complete training
Eight Volunteer Ombudsmen received the State Certification for Volunteer
Ombudsman, Monday, April 28, at a breakfast celebration in Orofino. They
completed twenty-four hours of training in order to serve as an Ombudsman in the
local area long-term care facilities.
Orofino was chosen as a pilot project for Region II. Volunteer Ombudsmen are assigned to the three long-term care facilities; Clearwater Health and Rehab, Brookside Landing, and Haven of Rest. The service includes bringing the community to the facilities as a friendly visitor. Other duties are to serve as an advocate for the residents’ rights and as an educator for the residents, families, staff, and community on the nature of residents’ rights.
The next city in the area to receive training will be in Moscow. Recruitment starts now. The free twenty-four hour in-service will begin in July. You can receive your training anywhere; you will be assigned to your local town.
