OHS graduation set for May 31
Seventy-nine Orofino High School seniors will be graduated in commencement exercises at 8 p.m., Saturday, May 31 at the Orofino High School gymnasium.
The class has six Valedictorians and one Salutatorian. Valedictorians are Alesha Bowen, Fredrick Bunt, Nathan Jones, Alexandra Palmer, Douglas Williams and Kyle Wilson. Keela Sykes is the Salutatorian.
All six Valedictorians have a 4.0 grade point average (GPA) and the Salutatorian has a 3.97 GPA.
Class officers are Angelina Rivera, senior class president. Matt Magen, vice president and James Walker, ASB president.
Class songs are Swing Life Away by Rise Against and I’m Not Gonna Cry by Cory Smith.
Class flower is a stargazer lily and class colors are royal blue and white.
The class motto is “Each of us has different talents, different dreams, and different destinations, yet we all have the power to make a new tomorrow.”

Alesha Bowen, Co-Valedictorian Alesha Bowen is the daughter of Larry and Eva Bowen. She plans to attend the University of Idaho to earn a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with an emphasis in Photography/Digital Imaging. On of her most memorable experiences in high school was the day the whole hallway sang “Happy Birthday” to her. She said “In 10 years I see herself as graduating from college and starting my career in photography, getting married and starting a family. |

Fredrick Bunt, Co-ValedictorianFredrick Bunt the son of Dr. Clayton and Joyce Bunt plans to attend the University of Montana to study athletic training. He says “For right now high school has been the best four years of my life. Sports have been the best part.” In 10 years he sees himself as being an accomplished athletic trainer working for the San Diego Chargers. |

Nathan Jones, Co-ValedictorianThe son of Ray and Shannon Jones, Nathan plans to attend the University of Idaho where he will participate in the Air Force ROTC program and study computer science. He said “In high school my most memorable experience is playing Halo 2 at the ManiYAC Teen Center during my junior year.” In 10 years he sees himself as a captain in the U. S. Air Force working to serve the United States as part of the USAF Cyber Command in Washington, D. C. |

Alexandra Palmer, Co-ValedictorianAlexandra Palmer is the daughter of Brian and Mary Palmer and plans to attend a college close to home until she decides what she wants to do. Eventually she would like to become a health care professional. She said “One thing that makes each year of high school memorable is playing volleyball.” In 10 years she could definitely see herself rich with air miles from all of my international adventures. “And maybe a job…if I feel like it” she concluded. |

Douglas Williams, Co-ValedictorianDouglas Williams, the son of Mabel Williams, deems “Playing our last football game at the Dome” as his most memorable experience of high school. He plans to attend college and earn a degree in Athletic Training and Exercise then obtain a journeyman’s license as a residential electrician. In 10 years he sees himself starting a business as an electrician or a career as an athletic trainer. |

Kyle Wilson, Co-ValedictorianFollowing graduation Kyle Wilson plans on attending college in Canada to study secondary education and coaching. He is the son of Dennis and Janece Wilson. His most memorable high school experience would be classified as one while playing on the football field. He said “In 10 years I see myself teaching and coaching for a high school in Fairbanks, Alaska preferably in Lathrop High School where my mom went.” |

Keela Sykes, Salutatorian The granddaughter of William and Diane Shamion, Keela Sykes plans to attend Lewis-Clark State to major in education and take music classes. The most memorable experience in high school for Keela was when she dyed her hair red and woke up in the morning with carrot red hair. “In 10 years I hope that I will be teaching music to children and sharing my love for it with them. I hope to be settling down and having my own family.” |
