Peck Elementary celebrates Arbor Day

Students of Peck Elementary School celebrated Arbor Day on April 23 by planting a White Dogwood tree in Peck City Park. The tree was provided by Nez Perce County Forestry Advisory Committee who received an Arbor Day Grant.

The Committee was able to plant four trees in total to local schools. Students were able to list several benefits that trees provide, such as; air quality, habitat for animals, beauty, reduced cooling costs, paper products, etc.

Tera King, Community Forester presented the City of Peck with Tree City USA status award for the fourth consecutive year. Students each received a seedling ponderosa pine tree to plant at home; along with posters, tree planting information, bookmarks and coloring projects.
