Fire, fallen trees result from Monday's storm

Monday’s storm brought water
into the electrical system at the Community Thrift Shop, FISH, Inc.,
219 Johnson Avenue.
Fire Chief Mike Lee reported that water in the electrical system caused smoke in
the structure. No damage was done, and the contractor had been contacted to
inspect the building.

A large tree was blown down
in front of a house at the NE corner of
Michigan
and D Streets in a windstorm that hit Orofino Monday. The tree just barely
missed hitting the structure. It did not appear to have hit any power lines. The
National Weather Service reported wind gusts between 55 to 64 mph. Two other
trees were knocked down, on the Gilbert Grade off Hwy. 12 and the other on Lower
Fords Creek Rd.
