CVHC wine tasting provides fun and funds

The Clearwater Valley Hospital 34th Annual Wine Tasting last Friday evening attracted close to 175 guests and netted over $4,000 to provide camper scholarships to CVHC’s pediatric patients with diabetes. Two of the past scholarship recipients, Mariah Cunningham and Sarah Stemrich, worked in the kitchen helping prepare and serve food at this year’s event.

“The summer camp makes a world of difference to Mariah and each of the campers because they all have something in common and, for once, they are like everyone else rather than being singled out as someone different,” said Mariah’s mom, Shirley Cunningham who also volunteered along with Sarah’s mom, Betsy  Stemrich.

Dr. Adam and Hayley Dayley, Eye Clinic of Orofino, donated $500 towards camper scholarships in conjunction with the wine tasting.  “We really appreciate their generous contribution. It was an unsolicited donation directly from their hearts,” said Jim May, CVHC Development Director.  “We also really appreciate the attendance by so many people from the community and from our guests who purchased our silent auction baskets.

This year’s theme celebrated 34 years of community support.  We’re fortunate to have area residents and local businesses support our facility through the years.”

Silent Auction basket purchasers were Joe and Charlene Douglas, Wine Basket; Julie Chenoweth, Christmas Basket; Doggie Delight, Glenna Mastrud; Wine Stone, Pat Larson; Day on the Lake, Sandy and Mike Clay, Rick and Janet Burnham, Joe and Bernie Pippenger; Real Man’s Basket, Tammy Schwartz and the Ladies Basket, Jamie Wilson. Wilson also chipped in on a number of the other purchased baskets.

The Annual Wine Tasting is sponsored by the CVHC Auxiliary and Foundation. It is held the last Friday in April.
