Idaho Fish and Game Seeks Input on 2008 Wolf Hunting Season
The Idaho Department of Fish and Game has scheduled two open house meetings to seek comment on the 2008 wolf hunting season framework.
The meetings will be held at the following locations:
Lewiston: Monday, May 12, Clearwater Fish and Game Office, 3316 16th Street.
Grangeville: Tuesday, May 13, Senior Center, County Road.
Both meetings will begin at 6 p.m. with a short presentation, followed by an open house where season displays can be viewed.
The Fish and Game Commission approved the Idaho Wolf Population Management Plan, and the gray wolf was removed from the Endangered Species List this past March.
The management plan calls for managing wolves at a population level of between 500-700 wolves for the first five years following delisting. Details for the fall 2008 hunting season is scheduled to be set by the Commission at the May 21-23 meeting and brochures should be out to the public in July.
Comments can be submitted at the scheduled meetings or by mail to Idaho Fish and Game, 3316 16th Street, Lewiston, ID 83501. The deadline for submitting comments is 5 p.m., May 16.
