Orofino routs Grangeville Behind the commanding pitching of Dylan Midstokke provided and solid hitting, the Maniacs routed Grangeville 10-1 in a Central Idaho League showdown April 25. Midstokke threw a four-hitter, striking out seven and walking none in improving to 4-0. The Maniacs produced 11 hits, all but one of them singles. Cody Newman was 3-for-5 at the plate. Michael Welch and Jeff Vicory had two RBI apiece for Orofino, which answered Grangeville's only score with eight runs in the fourth through sixth innings. Maniacs take advantage of errors in win over Panthers Orofino took advantage of three Asotin errors to beat the Panthers 2-0 in a non-league game April 22. In the first inning the Maniacs put a player on base via an error and, after a stolen base and passed ball, got an RBI single by D.J. Wright. Then in the seventh, a walk and stolen base preceded a run-allowing error in the outfield. Orofino had only two hits off Creighton Alford, who struck out nine through his five-inning start. Michael Lacey went the distance on the mound for Orofino, giving up four hits while striking out five and walking one. He also profited from the Maniacs' flawless defense as well as the arm of catcher Frank Haskett, who threw out three base runners trying to steal second, two of them in the sixth inning. Lady Maniacs lose close one to Asotin In a game that lasted three hours, Asotin’s Cory Fitzgerald plated the go-ahead run in the sixth inning to put the Panther’s on top 12-11 over the Lady Maniacs April 22. With the score tied at 11, catcher Holly Heitstuman singled, then stole second and third. Fitzgerald then drove her in with a single. The Panthers (4-12) scored three runs in the first, then fell behind 11-4. But Asotin roared back with a seven-run fifth. The teams were scheduled to play a doubleheader, but had to call off the second game in the second inning due to darkness. Grangeville squeaks by Lady Maniacs Katie Holman drove in four runs and Carrie Lewis stole four bases to help Grangeville squeak by the Lady Maniacs 9-8 April 25. The Bulldogs scored at least one run in the first five innings, but never more than three at one time. In addition to Holman, Dana Groom had three RBI.
