Children from zero to five years old and their parents are invited to a free Early Childhood developmental screening to be held in Weippe at the Weippe Wesleyan Church basement from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, May 7. For more information call Karen Olson at 435-4289.

Karen says a developmental screening allows the parent and the professional to explore a child’s development together. Communication skills, motor development, and social skills will be evaluated.

Parents will be asked about their child’s self-help skills as well and the child’s skills is compared to other children of the same age. Screening takes about one hour. The children earn stickers and generally have a good time playing with the various adults and toys.

Appointments take about one hour and can be made by calling Karen. Jill Renner, Developmental Specialist will work with families of zero to three years old.

Joint School District No. 171 and Lewis Clark Early Childhood Program work cooperatively to administer the screening of three to five year olds.

This service is available by appointment if the above time does not fit your schedule. Call 476-4810 for an appointment.

Dolores says there was a crowd for pinochle last Sunday at the lodge where a potluck was immensely enjoyed after pinochle. High score went to Tom Reid, low score to Lori Franchini. Tom Reid and an unknown (we forget) won pinochle.

Last Tuesday White Pine Rebekah Lodge had a visitation from President Roberta Joy Lee of Kooskia. There were five members from Kooskia 64 Lodge, three members from Zenith Lodge of Stites, three from Bluebell of Orofino, Ruby 49 Lodge and Silverleaf Lodge of Parma had one member in attendance.

Four members of the Weippe Lodge went to Orofino’s Bluebell Lodge #72 for the President’s visitation and seven members attended Rebekah District meeting in Kooskia the beginning of the month.
