Maniacs split with
Lumberjacks
In spite of a
clutch sixth-inning grand slam, the Maniacs dropped the first game
of a doubleheader to St. Maries April 24, 13-8. The Maniacs went on
to defeat the Lumberjacks 12-1 in the nightcap.
Ethan Gilliam gave
the Maniacs an 8-6 lead with his timely blast, but pitching trouble
and poor defense led to an eight-run frame for the Lumberjacks.
The second game
was a happier story for Orofino. Michael Welch tossed a one-hitter,
striking out 15 while also yielding eight walks.
Adam Wilson went
4-for-5 with five RBI, including a three-run shot in the fifth, to
pace the Maniacs offense.

St. Maries sweeps
Lady Maniacs in doubleheader
St. Maries took
both games from Orofino - a nonleague 3A meeting April 23, winning
11-1 and 9-4 April 23.
The Lumberjacks held the Maniacs to a single hit in an 11-1
opening game before using a seven-run fifth inning to finish the
sweep.
Shelby Millsap and
Cherish Tachell each had two RBI for Orofino.

Lewis County rallies
to defeat Timberline
The Lady Spartans
led 7-0 before
Trailing 7-0 in
the bottom of the fourth inning the Eagles got some clutch hitting
(five of their eight hits were for extra bases) when they needed it
and scored the final 14 runs of the game.
Tara Watson had
one hit and Jessica Gangewer had two for the Lady Spartans.

best in 800
Competing at the
Nez Perce/ Lewis and Clark Games prep track meet April 23, Austin
Blain of Timberline recorded an area best of 2:03.3 in the 800 as
part of a double victory, winning the 3200 as well at 10:16.4.
13-teams
participated in the meet. Timberline girls finished ninth with 21
points, while Orofino girls scored 17 for an 11th place finish.
Timberline boys
finished fifth with 59 points and Orofino finished with 42 points
for seventh place.
Other first place
finishes went to Monique Stamper in pole vault with a leap of 9-6,
Orofino boys 400 relay at 46.8 and Timberline boys’ medley relay
finish of 3:51.4.

crowned medalist as
Dodge, who has
battled illness for much of the season, carded a 7-over-par 77, with
second place going to teammate Dusty Myklebust at 78.
