School facilities plans nearing completion

   At a facilities meeting for Jt. School District 171, held April 22, Lawrence Rose and Jim Coles of Design West presented construction plans for proposed projects. Following discussion, Design West will alter the plans to reflect suggested changes and present what is hoped will be the final version at the next facilities meeting.

   Projects include a bus loop and parking lot at Orofino Elementary, remodeling of the OES kitchen, multi-purpose rooms at Timberline Schools (TS) and Orofino High School (OHS) and classrooms at TS and OHS.

   Estimated costs for each of the projects were included, as well as possible scenarios for funding of projects through a plant facilities levy. Also under discussion is the possibility of a bond levy. The current estimated total for all projects is approximately $7.35 million.

   Cost comparisons for each funding option will be presented at the next facilities meeting, to be held Monday, May 10, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the district office.
