Pierce-Weippe Chamber Member Profile series
Cyndy's 1st Stop Java

The Pierce-Weippe Chamber profile for this week is Cyndy’s 1st Stop Java located at the West entrance of Weippe on Hwy 11. Owners are Bill and Cyndy Koerling, lifelong residents of the area. The Koerlings have raised their three children, April, Doug and Clorinda in the area. April actually started the drive thru Java Stop and now Cyndy runs it full time, serving a large menu of coffee items including espressos, cappuccino and fruit smoothies.

Other daughter Clorinda will be joining her mother sometime the end of May. They are in the process of finishing indoor seating and a kitchen to serve their customers homemade pies and other goodies.

They offer different items for sale but the business’s main feature is centered around Cyndy’s one-of-a-kind dolls and sculptures, some of the most realistic ever created. The Indian baby dolls come in four different sizes in their own hand beaded cradle board.

She also makes portrait dolls but these have to be special ordered. Dreamcatchers and medicine bags are also in the gallery. All of these things are hand crafted with love and care. She has sold her dolls to people as far away as Australia and to people as famous as Demi Moore.

She has recently started making specialty sculptures like the Lewis and Clark set and an impressive Chief Joseph on his Appaloosa. Each one is unique because they do not come from a mold. They are lovingly sculpted and put together by Cyndy herself.

Available for tourists are various books, brochures and magazines about the area and its history. Some tell you a little about the Nez Perce and of Lewis and Clark. Others are for various businesses in the area and what they offer.

Cyndy is open at the Java Shop 5:30 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday through Saturday serving truckers, travelers and local people their favorite drinks. The phone number is 435-4405 and her website is www.cyndys-dolls.com.
