VFW and Rotary fields receive spring facelifts

You might have noticed some red-shirt men working around the Orofino VFW and Rotary ball fields last week. They were inmates from the Givens Hall Work Projects Team (home base is at the prison here in Orofino).

The Givens Hall Work Projects Team consists of twelve officers that supervise approximately 140 minimum and community custody offenders. Labor is provided to numerous city, county, state, and federal agencies as well as non-profit organizations.

Last week, working in coordination with Clearwater County Deputy Dan VanKomen, the Projects Team provided community service to help give the two Little League ball fields a spring facelift. Last year the Work Projects Team provided over 1,500 hours of community service within Clearwater and Nez Perce Counties. The first quarter of 2008 they already exceeded 800 hours.
