  Orofino City Council
Endurocross race provisionally approved

By Ronda Nelson

At its April 22 meeting, Orofino City Council provisionally approved a proposal for an Endurocross race at the log arena at the city park. Full approval rests on documentation of adequate liability insurance for the event.

The proposal came from Dale Barger, who developed it following favorable input from the council at its last meeting. Barger met with the Parks and Recreation Committee on April 15 to submit his plan and answer questions and concerns. All concerns were addressed and answered satisfactorily, and the committee recommended approval.

The event will take place May 17.

Special Use Application

A Special Use Application was approved for Karen Bird Goodwin to operate a private preschool at the United Methodist Church, 337 College Ave.

MOA with Humane Society

The council approved a memorandum of agreement with the Clearwater County Humane Society for CCHS to trap and treat feral cats. Disease free animals will be neutered and homes will be found. The agreement ends June 30 and will be reviewed on an as needed basis.

Present at the meeting were Mayor Smathers, Clerk Montambo, Treasurer MacGuffie, Public Works official Barton, Building official Elliot, Water/Wastewater Annen, Fire Chief Lee and Council members Deitrick, Brown, Banks, Donner, Clay and McLaughlin.

The Council meets every second and fourth Tues. at 6 p.m. at the City Council chambers, 217 1st St.
