Ready for Community Cleanup Day—Mo Paré, Jeff Jones and Tony Wilson (l to r) are ready to help out at Orofino’s Community Cleanup Day and Earth Day Celebration this Saturday, April 26 at Orofino City Park.
Community Clean Up, Earth Day and Arbor Day April 26
April 26 has been designated as Community Clean Up, Earth Day and Arbor Day in Orofino. ManiYAC Pride, Chamber of Commerce, City of Orofino, Kiwanis and Rotary clubs in cooperation with Clearwater County and Simmons-NADL Enterprises Inc. are spearheading the community spring clean up effort again this year.
The community is rolling up its sleeves for this spring fling event. Individuals and organizations are asked to clean up around their homes and workplaces. In addition, groups and individuals are encouraged to sign up and clean an area in need in their neighborhood or community.
The committee would like to clean up abandoned vehicles within the city limits. People are encouraged to call and let the committee know about any abandoned vehicles in their neighborhoods.
Simmons-NADL Enterprises will pay higher prices for aluminum cans comparable to Lewiston starting from Saturday, April 26 through Friday, May 2.
To sign up or for more information or if anyone needs assistance in cleaning up, call Moe Pare at 476-3726.
In celebration of Arbor Day, Urban Forestry of Orofino (UFO) in conjunction with the Idaho Dept. of Lands will be giving out free seedlings and raffle ornamental shrubs and trees. Information on planting and tree care will be available.
KLER will provide remote broadcasting of Saturday’s activities and will be giving out new Arbor Day t-shirts. For more information call the Chamber of Commerce 476-4335.
Community garage sale
The community garage sale will be back this year in the fair exhibit building from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. This is a good opportunity to clean up and recycle your household goods and make money. The monies made from the booth fees will be given back to a community organization to help with one of their projects. Contact Don George, 476-4226 to reserve your space. Various size spaces are available for $3, $5, $7 and $10.
New this year, beginning at 10 a.m., Saturday, April 26 Greener Clearwater County will be sponsoring Earth Day festival. The day’s events include a toy swap, games and prizes, giveaways, mural painting, food, educational booths from local agencies, demonstrations as well as live music by Red Eye Gravy and Clearwater Harmony. There will be something for the whole family.
